Former German right-wing party chief opens restaurant in Span

"Don't these guys have a tendency to split to a Spanish speaking country, historically speaking?" the K-Landnews TheEditor asked.

We read the news and were unsure as to whether we should comment.

Oh, the news was the the former chief of Germany's right-wing party NPD quit his job and then his country to live in Spain running a restaurant.

Why would we write about it?

Everybody has.

Why would we not write about it?

It's this thing about a second chance. Had the man retired to a farm to grow aryan cows, we certainly would have felt the need to highlight it.

But quitting a xenophobic party and going into a job where he has to be nice to foreigners is something that triggers our give 'em a second chance reflex. Which might turn out to be misguided, but a chance for humans has a greater value than me being right.

Those who would argue that media reports about the new venture can be seen as a healthy dose of "keeping an eye on you", may have a point.

What the media coverage definitely does show is that it is hard to get out of the limelight once you have sought and found it.
