Brotherhood of the Burning Pants

This is not a post about stunt men, many of whom make a living by getting set on fire under tightly controlled circumstances. Nor do we want to talk about a mayoral candidate of New York, New York, because he does not seem to own any pants, or they combust spontaneously all the time, given that you see him on Twitter only without these crucial garments.

The recently famous Brotherhood of muslims in Egypt is an all together different one, again, outside of our scope.

This one is resolutely about the Brotherhood of lying politicians, their pants ablazing, yet going on TV to defend a practice that makes the rest of us serfs or smurfs.

We are being insulted in a big way, our ability to perform the most basic logic is questioned at best and ridiculed by the likes of senators and former heads of intelligence agencies.

The unthinking retort that military intelligence is a contradiction in terms pops up in one's mind, and it stays there because, unlike the Brotherhood of the Burning Pants, we don't to dumb answers very well.

We have learned that the Brotherhood is international, should we change its name to International Brotherhood of the Burning Pants? The name does work for non-male members too - use your imagination.

This sounds too much like the name of a trade union to you?

Perfect.

The International Brotherhood of the Burning Pants is sort of the trade union of spymasters and those willing to do anything for a little bit of power or the reflected glory thereof.

The Charter of the International Brotherhood of the Burning Pants is simple, its two unwritten articles are quoted here in full for the first time ever. This publication could be considered a leak but it is not: the existence of the International Brotherhood of Burning Pants has never been and may never be acknowledged, so, we cannot really publish the charter of a non-existent organization.

Article 1: The Common People are dangerous, their aim is to live in peace, have a job that sustains them and their families just a little beyond the bare necessities of life.

Article 2: We will control the Common People by all means necessary and unnecessary.

See, who says simple answers to complex subjects are wrong?
