From our Seriously Weird Dreams department.
Freud had his dreams interpretation all wrong. There.
These days, we know from animal experiments, both human and other mammals, that dreams are actively used in learning, in re-enforcing things you learned during the day.
But there are other dreams which do not have an obvious purpose. Such as the dream which unveiled nothing less than the meaning of life. Okay, in this sentence the word purpose might be used, but is there any purpose to knowing the meaning of life?
You would like to know what the meaning of life according to this dream is? Are you sure? Really?
A stream of colors emanating from a central point, radiating outward in distinct adjoining beams that get wider as the distance to the central point increases, forming a circle of different color light beams, bathing you in light. The whole topped off by you feeling every single cell in your body vibrate in perfect harmony.
So intense that you wake up in awe.
This may not be surprising because the brain of this dreamer has been known to act a bit strange while fully awake. If you see the personality of the people around you as geometric shapes, some very jagged and chaotically irregular, others with more rounded edges and more regular shapes, maybe the dream was simply another manifestation of the same underlying chemistry.
So, Hitler and Halloween. This was another dream recounted by a friend. She was walking around in a dreamscape with a friend when they met Hitler. It was Halloween and the man had black clown makeup around both eyes. He rubbed an eye, smudging the black makeup, it looked as if someone had given Hitler a black eye. He wasn't really into the whole Halloween thing in the first place, the friend laughed. But when he messed up his makeup, he got really upset. We told him, hey, Hitler, come on, relax but to no avail.
Weird, isn't it?
We are not sure if we should invite our readers to share dreams in which they encountered some of the world's famous nasties. Many such dreams would be outright nightmares anyway.
